De Sacré-cœur Vereniging is the Dutch national Association of Alumnae and Alumni of the original schools of Sacred Heart and of the former school of Sacred Heart: Sophianum in Gulpen. It is an unique association of alumnae and alumni of boarding schools, day schools and demi-boarding schools, founded by the Dutch Province of the Society of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
The Dutch Association was founded in 1922 and is the oldest S.H. Association in the world.
The aims of the S.c.V. are:
- to continue, maintain and create friendship and solidarity among the Alumnae and Alumni and the Society of the Sacred Heart in The Netherlands and all over the world: "Share, care and Love".
- to cooperate actively and affectively with the Society of the Sacred Heart in its different tasks and options and to cooperate actively and affectively, with the alumnae and alumni, wherever they life.
- to achieve all this by keeping alive the spirit of the received S.c.-education based on the philosophy of love of God and of one another; respect of the uniqueness of each individual; a development of the knowledge that we all have certain gifts and talents and the responsibility to personally foster, develop and use them for the benefit of all.
